Indian government recently announced formation of separate Union Ministry of cooperation. Objectives of cooperation ministry * Ministry of cooperation will provide a separate administrative legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country. * Ministry will work to streamline processes for ease of doing business for cooperation and enable development of Multi State Cooperative(MSCS ). Laws governing cooperative societies * Cooperation is in the state list which means both Central and state government can govern them. * The central registrar of societies is the controlling authority but on the ground state registrar takes action on his behalf.
