Between January and may 2021 more than 2,383 complaints of Domestic violence were filed with the National commission for women. Domestic Violence is abuse by one partner against another in an intimate relationship such as marriage ,family relationship etc.. It can be physical ,emotion ,economic and sexual abuse. It is a violation of fundamental right to live with dignity and of right to equality and equal protection of law guaranteed under Indian Constitution and demand proper legal action. Various reasons for high incidence of domestic violence in India Lack of awareness, Dowry system and other reasons include Poverty, Alcoholism, Unemployment etc. These factors put women of greater risk of violence because of the stresses created by financial hardship and relationship crises.
